This article reflects on the Spanish media when they informed about the "riots" or "disturbances" that took place in some "French suburbs" in autumn, 2005. What is analyzed, therefore, are not these episodes of collective violence, but the way these episodes were received and remeaned by the Spanish in(formation) mass media, and the contribution that that had in the long process of construction of the excluding figure of the altherness that is the social figure of the "immigrant".||En este artículo se reflexiona sobre lo que los medios españoles difundieron cuando informaron sobre los “motines” o “disturbios” que tuvieron lugar en algunos “suburbios” franceses en otoño del 2005. Lo que se analiza, por lo tanto, no son dichos episodios de violencia colectiva, sino el modo en que estos fueron recibidos y resignificados por los medios de (in)formación masiva españoles, y la contribución que esto tuvo en el ya largo proceso de construcción de esa excluyente figura de la alteridad que es la figura social del “inmigrante”.
