A população mundial cresceu de forma impressionante no último século. Já somos sete bilhões de habitantes no planeta. O agravante é que essa população tem se concentrado cada vez mais nas cidades, o que gera inúmeros problemas, pois não houve um planejamento adequado para receber um número tão grande de habitantes. A consequência são cidades caóticas. Surge, portanto, a necessidade do fator sustentabilidade no planejamento urbano, como forma de permitir a viabilidade dos aglomerados urbanos. As questões a serem enfrentadas são conscientização e mudanças que afetam o atual sistema econômico e de produção.||The world population grew dramatically in the last century. We are already seven billion people on the planet. The aggravating factor is that this population has been concentrating increasingly in cities, which creates many problems, as there was no appropriate planning to receive a large number of inhabitants. The result is chaotic cities. Therefore arises the necessity of the factor sustainability in urban planning, in order to allow the viability of urban agglomeration. The issues to be approached are awareness and changes that affect the current economic and production systems.
