In this article we propose to understand the transformation of the look of a Kadiwéu speaker on Catholic images, after her conversion to Protestantism in the Indian village Alves de Barros, in the municipality of Porto Murtinho/MS. We aim to present and discuss some issues contained in her testimony, including: the power or not of the image, its manufacture, its destruction, the relationship between Catholicism/Protestantism and images, devotional experience, among others. To reflect on this debate is justifiable in view of the splitting of the context in which the Kadiwéu currently are, where one village advocates in favor of, and the others against, the permanence of the images (read, Catholicism).||No presente artigo nos propomos a compreender a transformação do olhar de uma interlocutora Kadiwéu sobre as imagens católicas, após sua conversão ao protestantismo, na aldeia indígena Alves de Barros, situada no município de Porto Murtinho/MS. Temos por objetivo apresentar e problematizar algumas questões contidas em seu depoimento, entre as quais: o poder ou não da imagem, o discurso da verdade, a fabricação/destruição de imagens sagradas, a relação entre o catolicismo/protestantismo e as imagens, a experiência devocional, entre outras. Refletir sobre este debate é justificável tendo em vista o contexto de bipartição no qual, atualmente, se encontram os Kadiwéu, em que uma aldeia advoga em favor, e as outras contra, a permanência das imagens (leia-se, do catolicismo).
