This article analyzes imagery representations of colonial territory. It highlights images where amerindians are presented offering something to europeans. On the other hand, it shows how Europe was surrounded by attributes of science. These reciprocities were important in the overseas dynamics. The theme of the gift was present in almost all the republics and european monarchies who had contact with America.||Neste artigo analiso representações imagéticas do território colonial. Destaco imagens em que ameríndios são apresentados oferecendo algo aos europeus. Por outro lado, demonstro como a Europa era cercada de atributos das ciências. Estas reciprocidades eram importantes nas dinâmicas ultramarinas. O tema da dádiva esteve presente em praticamente todas as repúblicas e monarquias europeias que mantiveram contato com a América.
