In thisstudy, the authors criticizethe usual identification between pedagogical renewal and ICT. They argue that ICT, currently considered the epicenter of educational change, are not the focus of education. Theaim of this work was to contribute to the debate on the educational relevance of ICT in education, and the criticism that has distorted theory and practice of education in thisregard. The methodology is the critical essay, in which the authors reflect from a historical perspective on educational technological renovations focused on training. To support the reflection, there are two pioneer contributions of the twentieth century in educational technology renewal: the first by an educator, Freinet, and the second bya researcher, Casirer, selecting a representative work of each author. In addition, it is presented some pedagogical innovations from antiquity that aim both there source and education.||Los autores critican la identificación habitual entre renovación pedagógica y TIC. Sostienen que las TIC, actualmente consideradas epicentro del cambio educativo, no constituyen el centro de la educación. El objetivo del trabajo es contribuir al debate sobre la relevancia educativa de las TIC en la enseñanza, y a la crítica de lo que, a su juicio, distorsiona la teoría y la práctica de la educación en este sentido. La metodología es el ensayo crítico, en el que los autores reflexionan con una perspectiva histórica sobre renovaciones tecnológicas educativas centradas en la formación. Para apoyar su reflexión recurren a dos contribuciones pioneras del siglo XX en renovación tecnológica educativa: la primera de un educador, Freinet, y la segunda de un investigador, Cassirer, seleccionando un trabajo representativo de cada autor. Además, mencionarán algunas innovaciones pedagógicas remontables a la Edad Antigua, no orientadas tanto a los recursos como a la educación.
