The objective of this work is to understand how Iracema, legend of Ceará , the “foundation myth” created by the fiction of José de Alencar, in the nineteenth century, became part of Brazilian cultural history, suffering, in various ways, reconstructions and deconstructions throughout the 20th and 21st centuries.||The objective of this work is to understand how Iracema, legend of Ceará , the “foundation myth” created by the fiction of José de Alencar, in the nineteenth century, became part of Brazilian cultural history, suffering, in various ways, reconstructions and deconstructions throughout the 20th and 21st centuries.||O objetivo do trabalho é compreender de que modo Iracema, lenda do Ceará, “mito de fundação” criado pela ficção de José de Alencar, no século XIX, passou a integrar a história cultural brasileira, sofrendo, de diversos modos, reconstruções e desconstruções ao longo do século XX e XXI.
