O processo de registrar o movimento no papel não é um fenômeno novo, contudo, somente neste século a notação tem sido usada profissionalmente. Este artigo é uma análise da notação do movimento como uma carreira. Não uma carreira fácil, mas desafiadora. O texto trás conceitos e definições a cerca dos termos “coreólogo” e “notador”. Abre discussão sobre a profissão e seu mercado de trabalho no Brasil e no mundo. As notações foram e vem se especializando em descrever o movimento qualitativamente e quantitativamente, dissecando-o em elementos que formam o alfabeto corporal. O estudo desse material vem ganhando grande confiabilidade nas produções de dança no mundo. Conhecê-las e, eventualmente, especializar-se como coreólogo/notador é mais uma opção no campo profissional da área, que tem sido adotada nas grandes e renomadas companhias de dança.
