This paper aims to expose and analyze the mythological context of the musical composition Marsias against Apollo, for solo flute, in its relationship with the techniques and musical elements used in the composition. Thus, we will try to expose first the Greek myth that involves the heart of the composition, then the relationship of this myth with the most essential musical elements, and, finally, how these elements were then developed.

O presente artigo tem por objetivo expor e analisar o contexto mitológico da composição musical Marsias contra Apolo, para flauta solo, em sua relação com as técnicas e elementos musicais utilizados em sua composição. Assim, procuraremos expor primeiramente o mito grego que envolve o cerne da composição, depois a relação deste mito com os elementos musicais mais essenciais, e, por fim, como tais elementos foram então desenvolvidos.
