The article aims to broaden the knowledge about tourism in the municipality of Ananindeua, located in the Metropolitan Region of Belém (PA, Brazil), analyze the potential for ecotourism in the region and the importance of involving the local community in projects that encourage sustainable development; The history of the municipality and the legal steps necessary for the regulation and implementation of ecological projects will be presented. The study was conducted through the collection of data on official government pages, articles, field research conducted on Igarapé Grande Island and residents' testimonies, in which it was possible to note the lack of tourism projects in the islands. As part of the study, some steps are required for the implementation of projects that will responsibly explore the insular area of Ananindeua, as well as the importance of the participation of public agencies so that projects are successful and beneficial to the local community, providing sustainable economic development of region.||O Artigo tem como objetivo ampliar o conhecimento sobre o turismo no município de Ananindeua, localizado na Região Metropolitana de Belém (PA), analisar o potencial para o Ecoturismo na região e a importância de envolver a comunidade local em projetos que incentivem o desenvolvimento sustentável; Será apresentado a história do município e as etapas legais necessárias para a regulamentação e implantação de projetos ecológico. O estudo foi realizado através do levantamento de dados em páginas oficiais do governo, artigos, pesquisa de campo realizada na ilha Igarapé Grande e depoimentos de moradores, no qual foi possível notar a carência de projetos turísticos nas ilhas. Sendo apresentado no estudo algumas etapas necessárias para a implantação de projetos que explore de forma responsável a área insular de Ananindeua, assim como a importância da participação dos órgãos públicos para que os projetos sejam bem sucedidos e benéficos a comunidade local, proporcionando o desenvolvimento econômico sustentável da região.
