This article aims to identify the importance of implementing the environmental management model in rock blasting, which helps to minimize environmental impact. This article was based on a literature review in regard to the rock breaking second (DALLORA NETO, 2004; PONTES, 1998; ESTON 1998; ROLIM, 1993; SÁNCHEZ, 2001 and Silva et al 2000). The environmental management studies were used (BARBIERI 2004; PIMENTA 2008; FERNANDES 2001, HUSBAND et al. In 1999; HENRIQUE and QUELHAS, 2007 and UNIDO / UNEP 1995a). With the application of this tool is expected to get the indicators that will lead to environmental management applied in rock blasting, which contribute to a more integrated and participatory in this activity. Keywords: rock blasting, type of tool, the environmental impact.||O presente artigo teve como objetivo identificar a importância da aplicação do modelo de gestão ambiental no desmonte de rocha, o qual contribui para minimizar o impacto ambiental. Este artigo tomou como base uma revisão bibliográfica no que se refere ao desmonte de rocha (DALLORA NETO, 2004; PONTES, 1998; ESTON 1998; ROLIM,1993; SÁNCHEZ, 2001 e SILVA et al 2000) e à gestão ambiental (BARBIERI 2004; PIMENTA 2008; FERNANDES 2001; HUSBAND et al. 1999; HENRIQUES e QUELHAS, 2007 e UNIDO/UNEP,1995a). Com este estudo, espera-se obter os indicadores que levarão a gestão ambiental aplicada ao desmonte de rocha, os quais contribuirão para uma melhor gestão integrada e participativa nesta atividade.
