The 1960s underwent a profound political, economic and social transformations that, dialectically and consequently, reverberated in the discussions about the status of knowledge since then. In this context, the book The Postmodern Condition by Jean-François was the first to discuss the position of knowledge in the most developed societies and the condition of culture after the transformations in science, art and literature that guided the production, distribution and legitimation of knowledge in western societies. The purpose of this work, in this sense, is to debate a critical re-reading and a detailed investigation of this work. However, an investigation like this, couldn’t be limited to reviewing works in a fragmented way, for that reason I add other works of the same author, as well as related ones, to extend the discussion. My goal, therefore, is to draw an interpretive line from the beginning of postmodern criticism on the status of knowledge in the West, and then show the problems and limits of this criticism.||A década de 1960 passou por profundas transformações políticas, econômicas e sociais que, dialética e consequentemente, reverberaram nas discussões acerca do estatuto do saber a partir de então. Neste contexto, a obra A Condição Pós-Moderna de Jean-François Lyotard foi a primeira a discutir à posição do saber nas sociedades mais desenvolvidas e à condição da cultura após as transformações na ciência, na arte e na literatura, que orientavam a produção, a distribuição e a legitimação do saber nas sociedades ocidentais. O objetivo deste trabalho, neste sentido, apresenta-se na releitura crítica e na investigação minuciosa, e em conjunto, desta obra. No entanto, uma investigação como a nossa, não poderia limitar-se a resenhar obras de forma fragmentada, por isso acrescento à essa obra outras desse mesmo autor, bem como de autores correlatos, para aprofundar a discussão. Espero, com isso, traçar uma linha interpretativa consistente do início da crítica pós-moderna ao estatuto do saber no ocidente para, em seguida, apresentar os problemas e limites desta crítica.
