This article, based on a bibliographic research, analyzes the biomedical discourse that appears in the short story “Pollice Verso” by Monteiro Lobato, part of the Urupês book published in 1918. This analysis is based on the perspective of Michel Foucault ( 1999). There is a logic in relation to the biomedical discourse presented in the short story inserted in Foucault's thought, according to which the discourse is part of a culturally constructed historical fabric, connecting the subjects to link their thoughts without necessarily promoting any kind of rupture tangent to them.||Este artigo, baseado em uma pesquisa de caráter bibliográfico, faz uma análise do discurso biomédico que aparece no conto “Pollice Verso” de autoria de Monteiro Lobato, parte integrante do livro Urupês publicado em 1918. Esta análise se pauta na perspectiva de Michel Foucault (1999). Existe uma lógica em relação ao discurso biomédico apresentado no conto inserido no pensamento de Foucault, segundo o qual o discurso faz parte de um tecido histórico construído culturalmente, conectando os sujeitos para encadear seus pensamentos sem promover necessariamente algum tipo de ruptura tangente a eles.
