This article analyses how some persecution mechanisms utilized by the intelligence departments from the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) in dictatorship years functioned in an area that is internally understood as “censorship less” – the classical music. To this end, we will primarily use an espionage document written in 1969 by the Department of Institutional Security of MEC (DSIEC/MEC). This document, released by the works of the National Truth Comission and found by this research in the National Archive in Rio de Janeiro, shows that there was espionage and persecution of composers, performers and administrators linked to this sector. Those persecuted, we noted, normally occupied a relevant position in the classical music life and sometimes official jobs in the State, as well as were introducing changes in the scenario. The aim of this paper is to unravel this impasse and to understand the cultural and political implications of this bureaucratic process.||Este artigo se propõe a analisar como funcionavam alguns mecanismos de perseguição utilizados pelos órgãos de inteligência do Ministério da Educação e Cultura (MEC) da ditadura militar com relação a uma área até então entendida como “isenta de censura”, a música erudita. Para tanto, utilizaremos principalmente um documento de espionagem redigido em 1969 pelo Departamento de Segurança Institucional do MEC (DSIEC/MEC). Este documento, liberado pelos trabalhos da Comissão Nacional da Verdade e encontrados por esta pesquisa no Arquivo Nacional (RJ), mostra que havia espionagem e perseguição a compositores, intérpretes e administradores ligados a esse setor. O objetivo deste artigo é perceber as implicações culturais e políticas da referida movimentação burocrática em um setor que era visto como “inofensivo”.
