Music is part of societies, reflecting and constructing them. To think about music is to understand the contexts in which it is, it is to understand the elements that constitute its and their transformations. In Caruaru is possible to notice how the pífano has been transformed to adapt what the context demands. This paper aims to make notes of how João do Pife has reframed his practice, together with the Banda de Pífanos Dois Irmãos, ensuring the continuity of his music. We conducted interviews and observations. We make notes of how contextual change influenced the musical modification of pífano and pífano bands.||Música faz parte das sociedades, as refletindo e construindo. Pensar sobre música é buscar compreender os contextos nos quais ela se encontra, todos os elementos que a constituem e suas transformações. Em Caruaru é possível notar como o pífano tem se transformado para atender o que o meio exige. Este trabalho tem como objetivo fazer apontamentos de como João do Pife tem ressignificado sua prática, junto com a Banda de Pífanos Dois Irmãos, garantindo a continuidade da sua música. Foram realizadas entrevistas e observações. Mostramos como a mudança contextual influenciou a modificação musical do pífano e das bandas de pífanos.
