Tendo em vista que a obra de Monteiro Lobato (1882-1948) foi publicada pouco depois da de L. Frank Baum (1856-1919) – de forma que podemos considerar que tais obras tiveram influências similares de seu tempo, apesar de receberem também influências diversas por conta de seu espaço –, e que as obras de literatura infantil de ambos os autores possuem grande importância no Brasil desde então, seja pelos livros em si, adotados em escolas ou leituras paradidáticas, ou pelas inúmeras adaptações que cada um recebeu (este, para o cinema, principalmente, e para o teatro; aquele, para a televisão), e se utilizam do recurso dos mundos fantásticos na figurativização de seus textos, pretende-se com este trabalho traçar uma comparação entre as protagonistas Dorothy, de O Maravilhoso Mágico de Oz (1900), e Lúcia, de Reinações de Narizinho (1931), com o fim de analisar como se dá a representação do feminino, a partir desses atores, nas obras indicadas. A importância de tal análise reside no fato de as duas personagens possuírem diversos pontos em comum, como alguns dos temas que figurativizam na narrativa, mas há outras tantas diferenças entre elas, dadas no percurso utilizado, na forma da representação e no discurso a elas atribuído. ||Considering that Monteiro Lobato’s (1882-1948) works were published sometime after L. Frank Baum’s (1856-1919) – so that we may assume such works have had similar influences from their time, even though they also had diverse influences from their space –, and that children’s books by both authors are very consequential in Brazil since then, be it because of the books themselves, adopted at schools as supplementary classroom materials, or because of the countless adaptations each one has received (the latter, mainly to movies and theater; the former, to television), and use fantastic worlds to figurativize their texts, we intend to compare the leading figures, Dorothy, from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900), and Lúcia, from Reinações de Narizinho [Narizinho’s Mischiefs] (1931), aiming to analise the way of representing the feminine through these actors within aforementioned books. The significance of such analysis lies in the fact the two characters have a plethora of little similarities, such as some themes they figurativize in the story; yet there are likewise many diversities between them, given during their path, the way they are represented and in the discourse attributed to them.
