Pode-se falar em uma verdadeira tradição no uso da pintura na literatura, que, iniciada com Goethe, em 1774, chega até nossos dias com Georges Perec e Thomas Bernhard. Este fenômeno, na França, foi favorecido pela grande controvérsia renovada a cada ano, no século XIX, pelo Salon Annuel de Peinture, envolvendo escritores como Theópile Gautier, Baudelaire e Zola. Sem ignorar outras literaturas, o texto retraça os percursos seguidos por esse fenômeno na literatura francesa dos séculos XIX e XX.||It can be said that there is a real tradition concerning the use of painting in literature. It began with Goethe, in 1774, and continued up to the present with Georges Perec and Thomas Bernhard. This phenomenom was favoured by the intense controversy renewed each year during the nineteenth century by the Salon Annuel de Peinture, involving many writers like Théophile Gautier, Baudelaire e Zola. Whitout neglecting other literatures, this article reconstructs this phenomenom in the French literature of the 19th an 20th centuries.
