The objective of this text is to discuss torture from what its forms of enunciation reveal. In a dialogue with reflections on torture in modern society in different historical contexts, it analyses literary testimonies written by those who lived this experience of pain and suffering during the Brazilian civil-military dictatorship (1964-85). It interrogates these testimonies as reminiscences, woven over time by distinct links between past and present, according to the individual and collective questions of the present, seeking the singularity of what was experienced, considering the social and political circumstances that surround it, given the extreme character of torture.||O objetivo deste texto é discutir a tortura a partir do que revelam suas formas de enunciação. Em um diálogo com reflexões sobre a tortura na sociedade moderna em contextos históricos diversos, analisa testemunhos literários escritos por quem viveu essa experiência de dor e sofrimento durante o período da ditadura civil-militar brasileira (1964-85). Interroga esses testemunhos como reminiscências, tecidas ao longo do tempo por elos distintos entre passado e presente, segundo as perguntas individuais e coletivas do presente, buscando a singularidade do vivido nas circunstâncias sociais e políticas que o envolvem, diante do caráter extremo da tortura.
