O artigo acompanha o percurso do educador em sua ação efetiva em prol das reformas do ensino, paralelamente ao papel de revelador da Sociologia e da Sociologia da Educação no Brasil. Desenvolve a interpretação/revisão das obras por ele escritas -- da década de 20 a de 60 -- destacando a posição de seguidor de Durkheim, acrescida de postura proveniente dos ensinos de Edgar Morin. Reconhece nos estudos de ensino deixados por Fernando de Azevedo a predominância da perspectiva sociológica e, no acervo por ele legado, um transmissor de conhecimentos, portanto motivação para novos trabalhos.||Thi article accompanies the educator in his efforts towards educational reforms, paralleling the role of revealer of Sociology and Sociology of Education in Brazil. It develops the interpretation/revision of the works written by him -- from the 1920's to the 1960's -- highlighting the position of follower of Durkheim, added to postures coming from the teachings of Edgar Morin. It recognizes in the studies in education left by Fernando de Azevedo the predominance of the sociological perspective and, in the collection left by him, a transmitter of knowledge and therefore a motivation for new work.
