Orientadores: Luiz Britto Passos Amato, Adriana do Nascimento Araújo Mendes||Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Artes||Resumo: Este trabalho traz como tema central a motivação de alunos no aprendizado de um instrumento musical. E mais especificamente, procura investigar as ferramentas utilizadas pelos professores que usam o Método Suzuki para manter seus alunos motivados. A primeira etapa da pesquisa envolveu investigar as práticas motivacionais propostas por Shinichi Suzuki (criador do Método Suzuki) à sua metodologia. Esses elementos motivacionais foram divididos em cinco categorias principais: despertar/nutrir o desejo de tocar; o prazer de aprender, o prazer de ensinar; prática em casa; socialização; elogios e correções. Na segunda etapa foi lançado um questionário para professores capacitadores latino-americanos (PCLAs) do Método Suzuki, no intuito de comparar a atuação desses professores, em relação a motivação de seus alunos, com as propostas motivacionais de Shinichi Suzuki. Essa comparação buscou saber quais dos elementos motivacionais propostos por Suzuki são mais importantes na visão dos PCLAs. Na terceira etapa, os dados obtidos foram analisados sob a visão da Teoria da Autodeterminação (Deci & Ryan), uma teoria da psicologia motivacional que atualmente vem sendo usada em pesquisas sobre motivação na educação e na educação musical. A análise dos dados obtidos no questionário mostrou que os PCLAs concordam com a maioria das propostas motivacionais de Shinichi Suzuki, havendo poucas divergências. Sob a perspectiva da Teoria da Autodeterminação, as propostas motivacionais do Método Suzuki provaram ser válidas, já que foram constatadas muitas congruências entre elas, além de que a teoria propõe estratégias que poderiam ser acrescentadas à metodologia. Neste trabalho, professores de música e, principalmente, de instrumento podem encontrar sugestões de estratégias motivacionais para manter seus alunos estimulados no estudo do instrumento||Abstract: This work has as a main subject the student motivation in learning a musical instrument. The research was specifically focused on instrument teachers who use the Suzuki Method and on the tools that they use to keep their students motivated. The first step of the research involved investigating the motivational practices, as proposed by Shinichi Suzuki (creator of the Suzuki Method) in his methodology. These motivational elements were divided into five main categories: awake/nurture the desire to play; the pleasure in learning, the pleasure in teaching; home practicing; socialization; praise and corrections. In the second step, a questionnaire was answered by the South America Suzuki teacher trainers, in order to compare the teaching performance of those teachers, concerning student motivation, according to the motivational proposals of Shinichi Suzuki. This comparison seeks to know how important is the motivational elements proposed by Suzuki according to the South America teacher trainers. In a third step, the collected data were analyzed from the perspective of the Self-Determination Theory (Deci & Ryan), which is a theory of motivational psychology that currently is being used in research about motivation in both education and musical education. The analysis of the data from the above mentioned questionnaire has shown that the South America Suzuki teacher trainers greatly agree with the motivational proposals of Shinichi Suzuki, with some few divergences. The motivational proposals of Suzuki Method has proved to be valid from the Self Determination Theory¿s perspective, since many congruencies between them were found, besides the theory proposes strategies that could be added to the methodology.
