This text focuses on visual culture and the relation between politics and aesthetics. These are two fields which, though autonomous, belong inherently to one another. A posthumous poem by Ruben Dario, a sonnet on anachronism by Alphonsus de Guimarães or an opera on the artist as a clown by Freitas Vale are strategies of play, encounter and archive, whose underlying political motivations help broaden the field in which political aesthetics is situated and stress the notion that political aesthetics is always a result of the interchange between a work of art and its interpretation.||O texto aborda a cultura visual e a relação entre política e estética, dois campos que, mais do que serem autônomos, pertencem entre si reciprocamente. Um poema póstumo de Ruben Dario, um soneto sobre anacronismo de Alphonsus de Guimarães ou uma ópera sobre o artista como clown de Freitas Vale, são estratégias de jogo, encontro e arquivo cujas implicações políticas subjacentes colaboram para alargar o campo em que situamos a estética política, e reforçam a compreensão de que a estética política é sempre fruto de um intercâmbio entre uma obra de arte e sua interpretação.
