The tragic circularity of contradiction in Moacyr Scliar’s short story “História porto-alegrense” This study aims at finding out, in the literature and society perspective, the contradictions within the short story “História porto-alegrense”, written by Moacyr Scliar. It tries to observe, by the narrator’s view, the modern hero emerging from the cotidian construction of the story in relation to the goods in general and in relation to the other human beings in an individualistic society which emerged from the market production. This society through its specific characteristics makes the manifestation of the tragic in a modern world possible.||A circularidade trágica da contradição no conto “história porto-alegrense”, de Moacyr Scliar Este trabalho pretende desvendar as malhas da contradição contidas no conto “História porto-alegrense”, de Moacyr Scliar, na perspectiva da literatura e sociedade, procurando observar o herói moderno a emergir da construção cotidiana da história, através do olhar da narradora, em relação estabelecida com os bens em geral e com os outros homens, numa sociedade individualista, nascida da produção para o mercado que, por suas características específicas, possibilita a manifestação do trágico no mundo moderno.
