Este artigo pretende discutir as relações entre caricatura e outras áreas da produção cultural no âmbito da obra do pintor, escultor, desenhista e caricaturista francês Honoré Daumier. Almeja-se também tecer paralelos entre sua produção artística e o seu momento histórico, a Paris capital do século XIX, contestando as noções pré-estabelecidas de “caricatura política” e “caricatura social/de costumes”, consolidada pela bibliografia mais influente.||This article intends to discuss the relations between caricature and other areas of the cultural production in the oeuvre of the painter, sculptor, draughtsman, and French caricaturist Honoré Daumier. I intend to establish parallels between his artistic production and his historical hour, that is, Paris, the capital of the 19th Century, contesting preconceived notions such as “political caricature” in opposition to caricature “de moeurs”, an aspect consolidated in the most influential bibliography on the artist.
