This essay presents the analysis of the Marques Rebelo's roman intitled The broken minor, which had registered a transition period in the Brazilian political and cultural history (Vargas Age and Second World War). The fragmentary narrative and the relationship between history, memory and fiction are the principal elements to understanding the uncertain historical moment. Key words: Marques Rebelo (1907-1973). Brazilian roman, literature and history.|| Este ensaio procura realizar uma análise do romance cíclico O espelho partido, de Marques Rebelo, como o registro de um momento de transição na história política e cultural do Brasil e do mundo (a Era vargas e a Segunda Guerra Mundial). As relações entre história, memória e ficção presentes no romance, e sua construção narrativa fragmentária são elementos essenciais para a apreensão de um momento histórico marcado por grandes transformações, expectativas angustiantes e profundas incertezas.
