The film Stranger than fiction proposes a challenge to the enunciatee by creating an interesting actantial syncretism, deliberately associated with a subversion of the usual relationship established between the narrator and the interlocutor. A singular discourse actor accomplishes this by taking over two actants, there by shortening the distance that usually separates each of them. The following semiotic analysis aims to show that the originality of the film lies in the enunciator’s strategy, by which the narrator and the interlocutor are put to interact at one same level. Such craft helps to bring the enunciatee closer to the work as well as it guides the development of the movie’s main theme: fiction versus reality. The figurative construction of the discourse actants also plays an essential role in the movie development since their unexpected interactions question the boundaries that limit what fictional means. In this way, the enunciatee is invited to untangle the narrative web established among the actants and the unusual relationships in which they engage. In order to shed light on the enunciator strategies, this study employed the generative process, proposed by A. J. Greimas, as an analysis method. Verbal as well as visual excerpts of the movie were taken into account for this analysis.||O filme Mais estranho que a ficção propõe ao enunciatário uma provocação baseada num interessante sincretismo actancial, associado a uma deliberada subversão da hierarquia de vozes, comumente estabelecida entre narrador e interlocutor. Essa quebra é realizada pelo seguinte mecanismo: o mesmo ator recobre dois actantes discursivos, diminuindo a distância que normalmente os separa. A análise semiótica proposta neste trabalho pretende mostrar que a originalidade do filme resulta da estratégia do enunciador em colocar, num mesmo nível de interação, narrador e interlocutor. Esse artifício aproxima o enunciatário da obra, além de corroborar o desenvolvimento do tema ficção vs realidade, explorado no filme. A construção figurativa dos actantes discursivos é essencial para a abordagem do tema, pois na relação entre eles se instaura a grande dúvida a ser explorada ao longo de toda a obra: onde termina a ficção e inicia a realidade? Dessa forma, o enunciatário é convidado a desvendar a estranha teia das relações estabelecidas entre os personagens do filme. Para esclarecer a interação entre as narrativas presentes em Mais estranho que a ficção e, assim, explicitar a estratégia do enunciador, o estudo utiliza como método de análise o percurso gerativo do sentido, estabelecido por A. J. Greimas. Elementos visuais e verbais do filme são tomados em consideração por esta análise.
