RESUMOO presente artigo versa a respeito da estrutura do campo artístico porto-alegrense e sua constituição nos anos de 1980. Nesta década Porto Alegre ficou conhecida como o terceiro maior mercado de artes visuais do Brasil, assim como, é o período de consolidação da arte contemporânea entre nós, e a emergência de uma nova geração de artistas chamada de Geração 80. Este trabalho reconstrói esta estrutura, sua configuração e a problematiza. Volta-se especificamente a pensar o papel desempenhado pelo mercado de compra e venda de arte na promoção das artes visuais e de seus agentes neste território.ABSTRACTThis article deals with the structure of the Porto-Alegrense artistic field and its constitution in the 1980s. In this decade, Porto Alegre became known as the third largest visual arts market in Brazil, it is the period of consolidation of contemporary art among us and the emergence of a new generation of artists called Generation 80. This work reconstructs this structure, its configuration and problematizes it. Specifically, it focuses the role played by the art market in the promotion of the visual arts and its agents in this area is specifically considered.
