It’s proposed an examination of the Guimarães Rosa’s romance through the theoretical and methodological contributions bequeathed by its critical reception. With his formulation of the concept of supra-regionalism, Antonio Candido denotes the simultaneous rupture that makes the Rosa’s creation, first with the factual wilderness, afterward with the regional theme of Brazilian’s literature, aesthetics tendency historically marked for the exotic and pictorial. Finally, the article will highlight, in the perspective of the Aesthetics of Reception, the importance of the reader to (re)signification of the fictional narrative.||Propõe-se um exame da ficção de Guimarães Rosa por meio das contribuições teórico-metodológicas legadas por sua recepção crítica. Com a sua formulação do conceito de supra-regionalismo, Antonio Candido denota a simultânea ruptura que faz a criação rosiana, primeiro com o sertão factual, depois com a temática regional da Literatura Brasileira, tendência estética historicamente marcada pelo exótico e pictórico. Por fim, o artigo ressaltará, sob a ótica da Estética da Recepção, a importância do leitor para a (res)significação da narrativa ficcional.
