O objetivo geral do artigo é analisar as implicações das mudanças recentes ocorridas na cultura da música em contextos musicais independentes, situados longe dos principais centros políticos, econômicos e mediáticos, a partir da pesquisa sobre um segmento de rock autoral existente em Teresina, capital do Piauí, que tem vindo a ganhar contornos cada vez mais sólidos nos últimos anos. Em termos mais específicos, busca-se discutir o papel das apropriações tecnológicas no incremento desse tipo de contexto artístico-musical. O argumento principal é que o rock independente de Teresina alcançou um estágio de relativa autonomia e especificidade, em grande medida, graças às oportunidades abertas pela disseminação das tecnologias de comunicação e informação, que têm permitido, entre outros avanços, a formatação de um corpo substancial de obras. Contudo, a permanência de velhos problemas, ligados, sobretudo, à sustentabilidade financeira dessas empreitadas, assim como o surgimento de novos obstáculos, relacionados principalmente com a visibilidade desse tipo de produção em um mercado cultural abundante e ultrassegmentado, configuram, ainda, alguns dos grandes desafios a serem superados.Palavras-chave: cultura da música, novas tecnologias de comunicação e informação, rock independente, Piauí, Teresina.||The general goal of this article is to analyze the implications of recent changes in the music culture for the independent musical contexts based far from the main political, economic, and media centers, from a research about the independent rock in Teresina, capital of the Brazilian state of Piauí. More specifically, our goal is to discuss the role of technological appropriations in the increase of the production in this kind of artistic-musical context. The main argument is that the independent rock of Teresina has reached a relative stage of specificity and autonomy thanks to the opportunities open for the technologies of information and communication, which provides the conditions to the construction of a big catalog of works. However, the permanence of old problems, linked to financial sustainability, as well as the emergence of new obstacles, linked to the visibility of this kind of production in an abundant and super segmented cultural market, still configure some of the big challenges to be surpassed.
