Resumo
A utilização de fontes literárias no estudo da Idade Média pressupõe um contato direto com a linguagem original empregada na composição e transcrição destes textos. Em especial, abordamos alguns aspectos do estudo semântico na tradução de obras como Beowulf e o Tristan de Béroul.

Abstract
The using of literary sources in the study of the Middle Ages presupposes a direct contact with the original language used in the composition and transcription of these texts. Specially, we call attention to some aspects in the semantic study in the translation of works as Beowulf and Tristan by Béroul.
