The objective of this revision is to point out body movements control regarding the concept of body image. The author also underlines that the relationship among the physiological, sociological and ecological variables has developed through different stages from 1920 to 1980. || Esta revisão objetiva destacar o controle dos movimentos no conceito contemporâneo de imagem corporal. A autora ressalta, ainda, que a relação entre variáveis fisiológica, libidinal, sociológica e ecológica passou por diversas etapas, de 1920 a 1980.
