The aim of the article is to offer a perspective of the works of certain authors which by their theoretical as well as conceptual preoccupations can be said to pertain to a new generation of critical theorists in the tradition of the Frankfurt School, specially of the second generation formed by Habermas, Apel and Honnet. The idea is to identify the possibilities and limits of their attempt at renewing this tradition among the main discussions being carried out at present in the field of social philosophy.||O artigo tem por objetivo oferecer uma perspectiva sobre a produção de certos teóricos, europeus e norte-americanos, cuja reflexão filosófica pode ser agrupada sob a alcunha de “teoria crítica”, dada a filiação mais ou menos direta, que eles mesmos reconhecem, com os herdeiros da Escola de Frankfurt – Habermas, Apel, Honnet. Trata-se de identificar as possibilidades e limites da tentativa de renovar essa tradição no quadro das atuais discussões filosófico-políticas.
