We analyze the discursive functioning of the enunciation “I saw Jesus from the guava tree”, made by Damares Alves, Minister of Women, Family and Human Rights. Thus, we show the circulation this enunciation in the Internet. The theoretical-methodological discussions focus on Maingueneau’s, Pêcheux´s and Paveau’s works. The results indicate that the discursive analyzes help to explain socio-historical aspects, it related, for example, with functioning of discursive memory, but it is also necessary to be attentive to the functioning of linguistic-enunciative factors, for example, the shape how the enunciation is recaptured, because the relationship between these factors contributes to the study of discursive ethics.||Analizamos el funcionamiento discursivo del enunciado “Vi a Jesús en un guayabo”, pronunciado por Damares Alves, Ministra de la Mujer, la Familia y los Derechos Humanos, mostrando la circulación de esta afirmación en la Internet. El discusiones teóricas y metodológicas se sitúan en los trabajos de Maingueneau, Pêcheux y Paveau. Los resultados indican que los análisis discursivos ayudan a explicar aspectos sociohistóricos, relacionados, por ejemplo, con el funcionamiento de la memoria discursiva, pero también es necesario estar atento al funcionamiento de factores lingüístico-enunciativos, por ejemplo, la forma en que se retoma la afirmación, ya que la relación entre estos factores contribuye al estudio de la ética discursiva.||Analisamos o funcionamento discursivo do enunciado “Eu vi Jesus num pé de goiaba”, proferido por Damares Alves, Ministra da Mulher, da Família e dos Direitos Humanos. Para tanto, mostramos a circulação deste enunciado na Internet. As discussões teórico-metodológicas situam-se nos trabalhos de Maingueneau, Pêcheux e Paveau. Os resultados indicam que as análises discursivas ajudam a explicar aspectos sócio-históricos, relacionados, por exemplo, ao funcionamento da memória discursiva, mas também é preciso estar atento ao funcionamento dos fatores linguístico-enunciativos, por exemplo, a forma como o enunciado é retomado, pois a relação entre esses fatores contribui para o estudo da ética discursiva.
