The central problem of the study is the condition of women in contemporary society. It is assumed that in a social context of regression in relation to the fundamental rights of the human person, the achievements of women are seriously threatened, making it necessary to resist and intervene in a qualified manner. The objective is to problematize the role of school education aimed at integral education and the emancipation of women, with emphasis on the contributions of musical expression. This is a bibliographical study and an analysis of experiences. The text contains: introductory part seeking to articulate issues of school culture, gender and musical expressions in the current context; a second part dealing with the historical achievements of feminist struggles and valuing the seriousness and necessity of gender studies with a view to the dignification of women; a third part about music as an artistic possibility in teaching and gender studies. Finally, it is concluded that the studies on gender with the artistic contributions, enhancing the music, make possible the sensitization towards humanization in the educational process, besides the awareness that, in order to change the social culture, it is necessary to emphasize the importance of knowledge to the historical learning of society.

Pressupõe-se que em contexto social de regressão em relação aos direitos fundamentais da pessoa humana, as conquistas das mulheres ficam seriamente ameaçadas, fazendo-se necessário resistir e intervir de modo qualificado. O objetivo é problematizar o papel da educação escolar voltada para a formação integral e à emancipação da mulher, com destaque para as contribuições da expressão musical. Trata-se de estudo bibliográfico e de análise de experiências. O texto contém: parte introdutória buscando articular questões da cultura escolar, de gênero e expressões musicais no contexto atual; uma segunda parte versando sobre as conquistas históricas das lutas feministas e valorando a seriedade e a necessidade dos estudos de gênero com vistas à dignificação da mulher e; uma terceira parte acerca da música como possibilidade artística no ensino e estudos de gênero. Por fim, conclui-se que os estudos sobre gênero com os aportes artísticos, enaltecendo a música, possibilitam a sensibilização para com a humanização no processo educativo, além da conscientização de que, para mudar a cultura social, é necessário ressaltar a importância do conhecimento para com o aprendizado histórico da sociedade.
