Enfoco neste trabalho o momento em que vi, com um grupo defoliões sem-terra, uma bola de luz no céu. Na tentativa de melhor compreenderesse evento, procuro refletir sobre as relações entre a Folia de Reis, ashistórias de assombração e os lugares que fui ocupando na vida social doassentamento à medida que realizava minha pesquisa de campo. Tomandocomo referência os trabalhos de Bauman (1977), procuro reconstituir sucintamenteos pontos marcantes da etnografia da performance que realizeino Assentamento Carlos Lamarca, através da qual dois gêneros discursivossurgiram como fundamentais para entender a experiência dos assentados(Turner, 1986): as falas sobre a “nossa luta” e as “histórias de assombração”.Pensando com Favret-Saada (2005) e Ingold (2000), busco então refletirsobre a visão compartilhada da bola de luz como um evento que alterou demodo significativo o lugar que eu vinha ocupando na sociabilidade do assentamentoe que me fez compreender de modo diferente as narrativas quevinha ouvindo e tentando interpretar.||This article focuses on the interpretation of the shared visionof a light ball witnessed by “me”, an anthropologist, and the “others”, ruralworkers, in the night sky during my fieldwork. Attempting to understandthis event, I try to think over the relations between the music played by amusical group (Folia de Reis) in the settlement, their ghost and spooky stories,and my different roles and places in this sociability. On the one hand,based on Bauman’s (1977) work on the ethnography of performance, I try toshow the basic aspects of two speech genres, “our struggle” and “ghost stories”.On the other hand, knowing that my specific epistemological positionand my different roles were important to this event, I follow Favret-Saada’s(2005) and Ingold’s (2000) perspectives, trying to think about the optionfor “being affected” and to be open to an “education of the attention”.
