In this paper the author argues thar journalistic news constitute a singularsymbolic system where reality and fiction become mixed together,thus stimulating the reader’s imaginary to recreate feasible wordswhich open up to new horizons and trangress reality’s frontiers.||Este artigo tem como objetivo principal avançar a reflexão sobre uma teoria da notícia. Pretendo explorar a extensão em que as notícias, como forma de conhecimento da realidade, permanecem próximas do referente empírico ou distanciam-se dele sugerindo mundos virtuais na imaginação dos leitores.
