This essay aims to correlate the warburguian montage in Jean-Luc Godard’s The old place with the concept of epicycloid developed by Araripe Júnior as a reference to the movement of cultural transformation: if, in Mnemosyne, Warburg discovers new meanings to images through their transpositions and recombinations, one can see this process as the methodology chosen by Godard to analyze the arts in his documentary, as well as an argument for Araripe Júnior to affirm his critic of monroism.||Esse trabalho propõe relacionar a montagem warburguiana realizada por Jean-Luc Godard em The old place com o conceito de epicicloide cunhado por Araripe Júnior para se referir ao movimento de transformação cultural: se, em Mnemosyne, Warburg descobre novos significados das imagens através de suas transposições e recombinações, pode-se pensar nesse método como a metodologia escolhida tanto por Godard para analisar a arte em seu documentário de 2000 quanto como argumento para Araripe Júnior afirmar sua crítica ao monroísmo.
