This text analyzes the dismissal of teachers’ right to participate in educational political deliberations, aggravated in the context of the pandemic. It inquires whether it is a devaluation of the teacher as a salaried worker, beginning with the contradiction: simultaneously in which they suffer prescriptions and control over work and the removal of deliberative participation, teachers prove to be essential in the current conjuncture. We seek to discuss the economic, social, and political dimensions of the rhetoric of teacher appreciation, which imposes itself as control, disempowerment, and, finally, devaluation.||Este texto analisa a destituição do direito à participação dos professores nas deliberações políticas educacionais, agravada na conjuntura da pandemia, indagando se se trata de uma dimensão da desvalorização do professor na condição de trabalhador assalariado, tendo como ponto de partida a contradição: ao mesmo tempo em que sofrem prescrições e controle sobre o trabalho e destituição da participação deliberativa, os professores, na conjuntura atual, revelam-se imprescindíveis. Buscamos discutir as dimensões econômica, social e política da retórica da valorização do professor, o que, na realidade, se impõe como controle, destituição de direitos e, enfim, desvalorização.
