En el presente trabajo emprendemos un estudio sobre el proceso de formación del soldado romano en la obra-documento Epitoma rei militaris, escrita durante los últimos años del siglo IV d.C. Objetivamos aquí analizar el procedimiento relatado por Vegécio que pretendía transformar el recluta en soldado del ejército romano. Para ello, nos apoyamos en la conceptuación de una Paideia Militar que define el proceso de la formación del militar con base en un modelo ideal de soldado para problematizar algunos puntos esenciales para la constitución del soldado romano. Esperamos con este trabajo desarrollar un análisis de los elementos que, según la perspectiva de Vegécio, formarían una matriz militar romana que permitiría vencer a todos sus enemigos.||In this article we undertake a study about the training process of the Roman soldier in the Epitoma rei militaris, document written during the last years of the fourth century a.D. We aim here to analyze the procedure reported by Vegetius view that aimed to to turn the recruit in soldier in the Roman army. We are supported in the concept of the Military Paideia, defining the process based on an ideal model of a soldier to problematize some essential points for the formation of the Roman soldier. We expect this work to develop an analysis of the elements of the Vegetius vision that they could form a Roman military matrix that would beat all the enemies.
