In this article we discuss the value atributed to literary works and the consequences deriving from different viewpoints. Based on theoreticians such as Benjamin (1980), Adorno (1980), Eco (1970) and several researchers from the Aesthetics of Reception, such as Jauss, we also discuss the inadequation of presenting a cultural product of a single kind, language and level to a specific group of readers.||Discute-se, neste artigo, o percurso de atribuição de valores às obras literárias e as implicações decorrentes de diferentes pontos de vista. Ancorado em teóricos como Benjamim (1980), Adorno (1980), Eco (1970) e em pesquisadores da Estética da Recepção, como Jauss, o artigo também reflete sobre a inadequação de se apresentar a um grupo de leitores um produto cultural de um só tipo, nível e linguagem.
