This study describes the activities developed by the Leplac Project to establish the outer limit of the Brazilian continental shelf in line with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). Geophysical data, particularly multichannel reflection seismic profiles, have supported the produc tion of numerous scientif ic works contributing in a decisive way to improving scientif ic and legal knowledge of the seaward limit of Brazil, in the region termed as the Blue Amazon||O presente estudo descreve as etapas desenvolvidas pelo Projeto Leplac para o estabelecimento do limite exterior da plataforma continental brasileira em consonância com a Convenção das Nações Unidas sobre o Direito do Mar (Unclos). Os dados geofísicos, em especial os de sísmica de reflexão multicanal, apoiaram a elaboração de inúmeros trabalhos científicos, contribuindo de forma determinante para o conhecimento científico e legal dos limites marítimos do Brasil, região denominada Amazônia Azul
