This article aims to study the participation of the instrumental jazz fusion band, Grupo Um, in the first International Jazz Festival São Paulo – Montreaux, in 1978. Initially they would not perform, even though they sent material to the organizers. In a second moment, they were invited by Márcio Montarroyos and included in the last moment in the line-up. During the last performance of the band, on the last day, they suffered a sonic boycott by the sound technicians themselves. This path demostrates some of the links and mediations between independent music and institutional initiatives, wich were connected in an unprecedent way in the late 1970s and early 1980, as we will see in the development of this text.||Este artigo analisa a participação da banda instrumental de jazz fusion, Grupo Um no I Festival Internacional de Jazz São Paulo – Montreaux, em 1978. Inicialmente eles não se apresentariam, mesmo tendo enviado material aos organizadores. Em um segundo momento, foram convidados por Márcio Montarroyos e incluídos de última hora na programação. Durante a última apresentação da banda, no último dia de evento sofreram um boicote sonoro dos próprios técnicos de som. Esse caminho demonstra alguns dos elos e mediações entre a produção musical independente e as iniciativas de grande porte financeiro e institucional, que se conectaram de forma inédita no final dos anos 1970 e início dos 1980, conforme veremos no desenvolvimento deste texto.
