Este trabalho tem por objetivo articular ideias sobre música, saúde e a prática da musicoterapia. Conceituações abrangentes foram criadas para fundamentar a argumentação. A música foi situada no contexto de convenção social, de atividade humana, enquanto que a saúde foi considerada com base nos Estudos da Deficiência e em dados sobre a violência urbana. As conceituações foram aproximadas a aspetos da teoria e prática da Musicoterapia no intuito de ressaltar suas influências sobre o bem-estar humano. Foi observado que na interação entre música, musicoterapeuta e participante, a produção sonora tem a finalidade de reabilitar, socializar e estimular as pessoas com vistas a ampliar suas possibilidades de ação sobre o meio circundante. A produção musical voltada para modificar condições de isolamento e descrédito oportuniza interações capazes de promover e construir saúde.Music Therapy: Music and health in practiceAbstract: This work aims to articulate ideas about music, health and the music therapy prac- tice. Comprehensive concepts of music and health have been created to support the argumentation. Music was situated within the context of social convention as well as a human activity; health was considered under the model of the Disability Studies and urban violence. Music Therapy theoretical and practical concepts were also introduced and articulated in order to highlight its reverberations on human well-being. It was observed that during the interaction among music, music thera- pist and participant, the purpose of the sound production is centered on rehabilitation, socialization, and stimulation aiming to increase people’s possibilities for action on the surrounding environment. The musical production centered on the modification of conditions of loneliness and discredit enables the occurrence of interactions aimed at health promotion.https://doi.org/10.34018/2318-891X.4(2)71-78
