This essay discusses the Guiana Shield as natural heritage to be preserved in a process driven by international cooperation between Brazil, Colombia, the French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname and Venezuela to protect a transboundary asset. Being theoretical work, the idea of preservation of this asset permeates three central categories: patrimonialization, biodiversity and territory. Among other possibilities, there is a proposed action in this direction: the creation of Conservation Units (CU) for inclusion in the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). In that sense, through national and international actions, it is understood that countries need to invest in training human resources, in scientific research, laws, and information and communication technology to expand protection areas in the Guiana Shield.||O ensaio reflete sobre o Escudo Guianês como patrimônio natural a ser preservado em um processo orientado pela cooperação internacional entre Brasil, Colômbia, Guiana Francesa, Guiana, Suriname e Venezuela na proteção de um bem transfronteiriço. Consistindo em um exercício de imaginação, em outras palavras, em um trabalho teórico, conduz-se a ideia de preservação desse relevo sob três categorias centrais: patrimonialização, biodiversidade e território. Dentre outras possibilidades, aponta para a criação de Unidades de Conservação (UC) nesse relevo sul-americano para inclusão na Lista de Patrimônio Mundial da United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco). Nesse sentido, por meio de ações nacionais e internacionais, entende-se que os países precisam investir esforços na formação de recursos humanos, em pesquisa científica, em leis e em tecnologias de informação e de comunicação para ampliar as áreas de proteção no Escudo Guianês.
