The 1980s rendered the term heritage becoming widespread in the complex scenarios lived in-between the civil-military dictatorship and the redemocratization of Brazil. According to studies on the history of Brazilian cultural heritage, the 1980s milestone is equally meaningful to understand the thought discussed at the time that would lead to new domains of culture. In the state of Ceará, the experience of the State Cultural Reference Center (Centro de Referência Cultural do Estado – CERES) puts into perspective the mapping and audiovisual record of the memory of traditional popular culture, symptoms of the role that folklore and handcraftcome to occupy as vectors of a Brazilian Northeast culture and an identity for Ceará. Included in the process of reconfiguring the field of cultural heritage, the “dynamization of culture” willthen be worked together with the yearning of local development, represented by the emergence of tourism policy. In this paper, we analyze the tracks that mark this field, noting how triad culture, heritage and tourism started functioning as a marker of regional distinctiveness, aiming toguarantee the position of Ceará in the representations of the heritage of the Brazilian Northeast by means of popular production.||A década de 1980 viu o termo “patrimônio” ganhar o cotidiano e os dias em meio à porosidade das conjunturas vividas entre a ditadura civil-militar e o processo da redemocratização brasileira. Nos estudos sobre a história do patrimônio cultural no Brasil, o marco de 1980 é igualmente significativo para a compreensão de itinerários que estavam se processando por meio de debates, projetos e ações com ressonâncias múltiplas nos novos domínios dacultura. No Ceará, a experiência do Centro de Referência Cultural do Estado (Ceres) (1975-1990) coloca em perspectiva o mapeamento e o registro audiovisual da memória da cultura tradicional popular, sintoma do papel que o folclore e o artesanato passam a ocupar como vetores de uma cultura do Nordeste e de uma identidade cearense. Inserida no processo de reconfiguração do campo do patrimônio cultural, a “dinamização da cultura” vai ser operada em correspondência com os anseios de desenvolvimento local representados pela emergência de uma política de turismo. Neste artigo, objetivamos compreender percursos que demarcam esse campo, notando como a tríade cultura, patrimônio e turismo passou a funcionar como marcador das singularidades regionais, visando garantir o lugar do Ceará nas representações do patrimônio do Nordeste por meio da fabricação do popular.
