This essay focuses the cyberpunk literary movement. It proposes a reflection on how the authors of this subgenre of science fiction treated aesthetically the expectations of social transformations in the face of the emergence of new communication technologies in the 1980s. It seeks to identify how the movement felt and represented social issues and tensions in relation to a future increasingly marked by a technological imperative and by contemporary capitalism. This approach starts contextualizing the object, to analyze the transformations of paradigms that occurred throughout the existence of the literary movement until its saturation and its unfolding in the so-called post-cyberpunk literature.||Este ensaio aborda o movimento literário cyberpunk. Propõe uma reflexão sobre o modo como os autores deste subgênero de ficção científica trataram esteticamente as expectativas de transformações sociais em face a emergência das novas tecnologias de comunicação na década de 1980. Busca-se identificar como o movimento sentiu e representou as questões e tensões sociais em relação a um futuro cada vez mais marcado por um imperativo tecnológico e pelo capitalismo contemporâneo. Parte-se da contextualização do objeto, para em seguida analisar as transformações de paradigmas ocorridas ao longo da existência do movimento literário até sua saturação e seu desdobramento na chamada literatura pós-cyberpunk.
