A principal preocupação deste trabalho é debater os possíveis
significados da recente definição e constituição do patrimônio cultural imaterial nacional. A estratégia seguida é, primeiro, entender o processo histórico do surgimento do patrimônio nacional como forma de legitimação da nova figura histórica – o Estado-Nação moderno; em seguida, como a tradição de determinado grupo social transformou-se em patrimônio coletivo, nacional. Após, será realizada uma breve exposição sobre o conceito de patrimônio imaterial e sua trajetória no Brasil e uma análise do processo de surgimento do Estado-Nação moderno no Brasil e seus desdobramentos na construção do sentimento de pertencimento, através da cultura e da natureza. Ao final, será retomado o debate sobre o patrimônio imaterial, nomeado como o “patrimônio dos sem eira nem beira”, para avaliar as relações entre seu estabelecimento e a ampliação da cidadania no Brasil.
Abstract. The definition and the constitution of non-material national cultural heritage are debated. Strategy consists of the following steps: first, the historical process within which national heritage arose as a legitimate form of the modern nation state; second, the manner by which a social group’s traditions were transformed into a national and collective heritage. A brief exposition on the concept of non-material heritage and its history in Brazil will be given, followed by an analysis of the process which saw the birth of the Brazilian modern nation state and the construction of a belonging feeling through culture and nature.
Non-material heritage, as the heritage of the common folks, will be finally
debated so that the relationships between its establishment and the
consolidation of citizenship in Brazil may be evaluated.
