Although little known among us, British thinker James Harris was considered to be a disciple of his uncle: Shaftesbury, the philosopher and writer of Characteristics. The present text aims at examining the dialogue as a literary genre within the works of James Harris.||Ainda pouco conhecido entre nós, o pensador britânico James Harris foi considerado como o maior discípulo de seu tio: o filósofo Shaftesbury, autor das Características. O presente texto busca examinar o tema do gênero diálogo no interior da obra de James Harris.
