Este texto apresenta uma discussão sobre os desafios de uma gestão escolar dentro de uma perspectiva democrática e participativa. Para tanto, fundamenta-se em autores referenciais em gestão escolar, como Libâneo (2008) e Luck (2009) no intuito de estabelecer reflexões sobre organização, gestão e cultura organizacional. Analisa as condições, os meios e os recursos necessários ao bom funcionamento da escola e do trabalho em sala de aula que verberam na melhoria do processo ensino-aprendizagem dos estudantes. Este trabalho traz um relato de experiência sobre uma atividade realizada durante a disciplina de Organização e Gestão do Trabalho Pedagógico ministrada em um curso de Pedagogia de Goiás, em 2018. Constata-se que ainda há instituições em que prevalece uma gestão fundamentada na hierarquia de cargos e funções. No entanto, há escolas que primam por uma gestão participativa e democrática. Além, considera-se que é imprescindível o papel dos gestores na melhoria do processo ensino-aprendizagem dos estudantes.||This text presents a discussion profitable on the challenges of a school management within a democratic and participatory perspective. Therefore, it is based on reference authors in school management, as Libane (2008) and Luck (2009) in order to establish reflections on organization, management and organizational culture. Even as, analyze the conditions, the means and resources necessary for the proper functioning of the school and the work in the classroom that verifies the improvement of the teaching-learning process of the students. In this bias, this work brings an experience report about an activity performed during the discipline of Organization and Management of Pedagogical Work taught in the Pedagogy course of Universidade Estadual de Goiás – Câmpus Inhumas in the period 2018/1. Such discipline gives opportunity to students a training beyond the classroom, identifying that there are other functions in which the pedagogue can exercise in school, among them, pedagogical coordination and direction. The activity called the talk round had as a central focus a dialogue between the management team of four schools in the municipality of Inhumas and the future pedagogues referring to the main challenges faced in school management. It is noticed that there are still institutions that prevail a management based on the hierarchy of positions and functions, however, there are schools that excel by a participative and democratic management. Furthermore, it is considered that the role of the managers is essential in the improvement of the teaching-learning process of the students.
