Gotham City e Metrópolis figuram entre as cidades imaginárias mais famosas do universo das histórias em quadrinhos. Criadas nos Estados Unidos em finais da década de 1930, elas são mais do que simples cenários para as aventuras do Batman e Super-Homem, são cidades ficcionais que refletem as questões vividas pelos grandes centros urbanos da época. O presente artigo debruça-se sobre a representação das cidades do Batman e SuperHomem, tomando como objeto de pesquisa a questão do crime e problemas urbanos nas primeiras histórias destes dois super-heróis, do período de 1938 a 1941.||Gotham City and Metropolis stage among the most famous imaginary cities in the comics universe. Created in the United States in the late 30s, they are more than simple sets to the Batman’s and Superman’s adventures, they are fictional cities which reflect the issues experienced by the major urban centers of the time. This paper focuses on the representation of Batman’s and Superman’s cities, electing as research subject the crime andurban problems in these two superheroes first stories, from 1938 until 1941.
