RESUMOA presente proposta de trabalho a ser apresentado na I Seminário Internacional sobre Patrimônio Histórico tem por objetivo examinar as relações entretidas entre o Patrimônio Cultural e o mercado turístico na cidade do Natal, capital do Estado do Rio Grande do Norte. Em termos de projeto de pesquisa, sua efetivação justifica-se principalmente por procurar compreender como a utilização do patrimônio pode contribuir para não somente o desenvolvimento econômico, mas também o desenvolvimento social, cultural, portanto, humano, do cidadão natalense. Metodologicamente este trabalho privilegia a leitura e análise de uma série de equipamentos culturais, geridos pela Fundação José Augusto – FJA, através de pesquisa em sitio, bem como de documentação produzida pela mesma. Estes equipamentos também se constituem em equipamentos turísticos, pois são visitados pelos turistas que percorrem a cidade do Natal. Apresentam-se imagens, descrições e informações sobre os mesmos. Por fim conclui-se com a necessidade de se discutir e promover uma maior exploração do turismo cultural na cidade do Natal. Na perspectiva da criação e implantação de um roteiro turístico procura-se não somente a utilização e apresentação aos turistas dos referidos equipamentos culturais/turísticos, mas também sua plena preservação/conservação. Por meio do uso turístico planejado podemos afirmar a constituição de uma real valorização do patrimônio cultural pelo turista, não somente como forma de singularidade ou simplesmente como forma de diferenciação entre os diversos lugares visitados e explorados, na busca por conhecimento ou por novas realidades diferentes da sua vida cotidiana, mas também significa o reconhecimento pelo turista da identidade ou das identidades constituintes das diversas comunidades pertencentes a uma determinada sociedade ou das sociedades de uma forma geral e ampliada.ABSTRACTThe present work proposal to be presented at the First International Seminar on Historical Heritage aims to examine the relations between Cultural Heritage and the tourist market in the city of Natal, capital of the State of Rio Grande do Norte. In terms of the research project, its effectiveness is justified mainly by seeking to understand how the use of heritage can contribute not only to economic development but also to the social, cultural, and therefore human development of the native citizen. Methodologically, this work privileges the reading and analysis of a series of cultural equipment, managed by the Fundação José Augusto - FJA, through on-site research, as well as documentation produced by it. These equipments also constitute tourist equipment, since they are visited by the tourists who travel through the city of Natal. Pictures, descriptions and information about them are presented. Finally, it concludes with the need to discuss and promote a greater exploitation of cultural tourism in the city of Natal. In the perspective of the creation and implementation of a tourist itinerary, it is sought not only the use and presentation to tourists of said cultural / tourist facilities, but also their full preservation / conservation. By means of the planned tourist use we can affirm the constitution of a real appreciation of the cultural patrimony by the tourist, not only as a form of singularity or simply as a form of differentiation between the different places visited and explored, the search for knowledge or for new realities different from but also means the recognition by the tourist of the identity or constituent identities of the various communities belonging to a particular society or of societies in a general and extended way.
