Entre o final do século XIX e início do século XX, a assistência social no Brasil passou por mudanças paradigmáticas com relação à proteção de crianças e adolescentes, em especial quanto ao acolhimento institucional. Nesse contexto, o artigo se focou na investigação sobre a atuação de profissionais do cuidado, as chamadas Mães sociais, em unidades de acolhimento institucional, na cidade de Ara caju-SE, na atualidade, especificamente nas Casas-lares. Nesse sentido, a pesquisa buscou identificar como ocorre o processo de terceirização da maternagem, exercida nesse âmbito institucional, almejando promover discussões centradas na complexidade dos conceitos de ética do cuidado e vínculo afetivo. Assim, os procedimentos metodológicos transitaram entre leituras acerca da temática e a realização de entrevistas individuais e coletivas, tendo em vista que o objetivo central foi identificar particularidades na constituição da subjetividade dessas profissionais. Os resultados elucidam de maneira explícita como os vínculos afetivos são construídos prontamente entres as mães/ cuidadoras e os infantes/jovens e ressaltam a lacuna quanto ao paradoxo existente nesta terceirização: quem cuida de quem cuida?

AbstractBetween the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century, social assistance in Brazil underwent paradigmatic changes regarding the protection of children and adolescents, especially regarding institutional care. In this context, the article focused on research the performance of care professionals, the socalled social mothers, in institutional care units in the city of Aracaju-SE, currently, specifically in nursing homes, a kind of family like alternative type of care. In this sense, the research sought to identify how occurs the process of outsourcing the maternity, exercised in this institutional scope, aiming to promote discussions centered on the complexity of the concepts of ethics of care and affective bonding. Thus, the methodological procedures moved between readings about the theme and the conduct of individual and collective interviews, considering that the central objective was to identify particularities in the constitution of the subjectivity of these professionals. The results explicitly explain how affective bonds are constructed between mothers / caregivers and infants / youth and highlight the gap in the paradox of this outsourcing: who cares for those who care?
